Virgil “Buddy” Whitlock, age 74, died peacefully at home in Albuquerque on May 30, 2024, with his wife, Sue, at his side. He fought COPD valiantly for more than two years.

He is survived by his wife, his son, Brandon (Deanne) Whitlock, and his daughter, Courtney (Matt) Burns. He was a loving stepfather to Erin (Chuck) O’Donnell, Sara DeVore and Laina DeVore. He was so proud of his four grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.

Buddy was born on July 21, 1949 in Carlsbad, NM to Frances Nelson Whitlock and Vivian (Bud) Whitlock. He ranched with his father from an early age, and then entered the world of home construction with his dad. Buddy entered the military and was eventually stationed in Germany. He loved and was honored by his time in the U.S. Army.

Buddy love fishing immensely, and could strike up conversations with anyone, anytime.

As a Christian man, he will be blessed by family and friends at a service planned for him at First Christian Church, 10101 Montgomery Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. We will meet Friday, June 14 at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate Buddy’s life.
