Viola Shirley Carrillo

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Viola Carrillo, age 74, who peacefully departed this life on December 2, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.

Viola was born to Nestorita and Bences Baca on May 4, 1951, in Albuquerque, NM. She married her loving husband, Francisco “Frank” Carrillo, on September 28, 1968, and together they shared 57 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Viola’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Carrillo; her son, Richard Carrillo, and his wife, Denise Cortez-Carrillo; her daughter, Valerie Carrillo, and her partner, Denise Pacheco; and her daughter, Lori Carrillo, and her husband, Randy Herring. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Matthew Carrillo, Jessica Carrillo, Samantha Carrillo, and Roman Carrillo-Pacheco, and her great-grandchildren, Andi and Mikael Carrillo. Viola is also survived by her sister, Mercy Carrillo, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will always treasure her memory.

Viola was preceded in death by her parents, Nestorita and Bences Baca; her brother, Ernesto Baca; her sisters, Clara Burciaga, Sylvia Sedillo, Sandra Baca; and her beloved son, Michael Carrillo.

A woman of simple joys, Viola loved listening to Spanish music, hot chile, enchiladas, phone calls with her family and friends, and visiting the casino, where she shared many fun and memorable moments with her family and friends. Throughout her life, Viola demonstrated a fierce will to live, strength, grace, and a deep love for her family. She always ensured her hair, makeup, and outfit were perfect, even as she battled cancer. She will be remembered for her feisty yet generous heart.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church located at 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. Services will begin with a Viewing at 7:15 am, and Rosary at 08:15am, Mass at 9:00am, followed by burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A reception will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church hall.

Viola’s family would like to thank all those who offered love and support during her illness. She will be forever in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Viola. You were deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
