Valerie A. Salazar-Ramos

June 14, 1970 — August 31, 2023

Valerie A. Salazar-Ramos - Aged 53 of Albuquerque, NM passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2023. Her untimely death sent her soul into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on June 14, 1970, to her loving parents Carla Jean Salazar and Frank George Salazar. Valerie leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be cherished. 

 

Valerie was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Samuel and Della Gallegos, her precious mother, Carla J. Salazar, stepfather Vince Garcia, brother Eugene Salazar, and her loyal fur babies: Xena, Zeus, Jack, and Gizmo Ramos. She also joins her Uncle Ernie Gallegos, Aunt Marcella Gallegos, and Cousins Dominique, Michelle, and Michael E. Gallegos in eternal rest. 

 

Valerie is survived by her husband John D. Ramos, along with three adored fur babies Dayton, Izzy, and Azara Ramos. She is also fondly remembered by her stepdaughters Sarah and Samantha Ramos, as well as four beautiful grandchildren. 

 

Valerie left behind her two sisters, a brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.  Monica R. Salazar-Zamora (Michael B. Zamora) and their children, Michael Gabriel and Marissa Samantha Zamora. Regina M. Salazar and her three children, (Alyissa, Adriana, and Angelique Alderette.) along with her three great nephews and two great nieces. Her Aunt Terri Hester (Shawn), Aunt Connie Gallegos (Danny). Her dearest cousin Lisa Ann Gallegos-Torres (Simon).  She also left behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

 

Valerie’s loved ones are left with beautiful memories of her and the comforting experience that she provided with her decision to be an organ donor. She saved the lives of three organ recipients from Texas, California and Utah.  

 

There was a perfect peace in the hearts of her loved ones, as they experienced their heart wrenching grief because their Valerie gave the ultimate gift of life, in her final act of love to the world. It was truly like witnessing a divine miracle of God. Her precious love and spirit will continue to live on in these recipients and their loved ones lives for many years to come. 

 

Valerie attended Rio Grande and Manzano High Schools. She graduated from Manzano High School in 1988. She immediately enrolled at Pima Medical Institute and became a skilled phlebotomist. Her dedication led her to work in various hospitals, clinics, and lab settings in Albuquerque, NM.  

 

Later on, she embarked on a new career path to make a difference working as a corrections officer at Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) here in Albuquerque. Valerie was very passionate about her change in career and was known by many to be an outstanding officer at (MDC). 

 

Valerie also had many interests and hobbies that brought her immense joy. She loved spending time and holidays with her family and friends. She was passionate about collecting antiques, coins, Disney memorabilia, and Beanie Babies, each holding a special place in her heart. 

 

A Rosary/Private Funeral Service will be held on November 15th, 2023 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the Shrine of Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, 11509 Indian School Rd. NE Albuquerque, NM 87112. Directly Following the Rosary/Private Funeral Service, Valerie will be laid to rest with her beloved mother Carla Jean Salazar at 11:45 AM. Location, Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. 

 

The passing of Valerie has left an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Her beautiful spirit will continue to live through the memories shared by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her kindness, dedication and love. Her brief stay here on earth and good deeds will definitely be remembered and cherished throughout all time.
