Tyeler Nowell

August 25, 1986 — July 9, 2025

Tyeler Nowell, 38, of Carrizozo, New Mexico, passed away on July 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by a few close family members. Born on August 25, 1986, in Alamogordo, NM, Tyeler brought light and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

The beloved son of Abby and the late Skyler, Tyeler’s life was filled with moments that reflected his trademark silliness, humor and deep love for those around him. As a husband to Diana, and a devoted father to Paul, Joey, Nicholas, Octavia and Tori, Tyeler loved his family with arms wide open, always quick with a dad joke or a cleverly-timed prank, filling everyone’s days with laughter and warmth and leaving them all in stitches.

Tyeler served his country honorably as a veteran of the United States Navy, living by a strong sense of dedication and loyalty that carried through to every chapter of his life. After his military service, he became an integral part of the Lincoln County Mercantile, where his hard work, quirky energy and nerdy charm were felt by colleagues and customers alike.

A true modern-day "Billy The Kid" with a twist of mischief and heart, Tyeler was never one to shy away from a perfectly-timed prank. He found joy in video games, board games and anything that encouraged friendly competition and connection. When not inside with a controller or a stack of cards, he relished the great outdoors, fueling family adventures and memories to last a lifetime.

Music was a vital part of Tyeler’s world: he was a steadfast fan of heavy metal and classic rock, with a particular fondness for David Bowie and Ghost. Friends and family alike remember Tyeler for his open heart, acceptance of others, and his ability to make anyone feel seen, included and valued. His quick wit and sense of humor leave a legacy of joy that will live on in every dad joke told (and retold again and again and again) and every laughter-filled prank and memory.

Tyeler is survived by his wife Diana; his children Paul, Joey, Nicholas, Octavia and Tori; his mother, Abby; his stepmother, Linda; his brothers Eddie and Shawn; sisters Candice, Jordan, Jaydin and Jennifer; and a wide circle of family and friends who cherished him dearly—especially Bobby, Traci and Robert.

A memorial service to honor Tyeler’s life will be held at a later date. The family invites all who loved, respected and appreciated him to join in celebrating his spirit, humor and the joy he brought to every room he entered.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the nurses at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital’s Hospice Unit—for the outstanding quality of end-of-life care they provided to Tyeler.
