Telesfor S. Lovato, a dedicated Marine Corps veteran and devoted family man, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and love. Born to a close-knit family, Telesfor proudly served his country during the Vietnam War with Company E, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Division. His bravery and dedication were recognized with numerous honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. Telesfor’s valor and unwavering commitment to his fellow Marines exemplified the core values of the Marine Corps. Following his military service, Telesfor continued to serve his community as a corrections officer for over 15 years. His dedication to duty and his compassionate approach earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and those he supervised. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Telesfor had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy and peace in nature, often spending time camping and sharing his appreciation for the wilderness with his family. Telesfor was also known for his culinary skills, delighting friends and family with his delicious meals and bringing everyone together around the table. Telesfor is survived by his three beloved children: Telene, Demetrio, and Bernadette Lovato, who will cherish his memory and continue to uphold the values he instilled in them. His legacy extends to his 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Telesfor’s extended family and friends will remember him for his warm heart, his stories of service, his love of the outdoors, and his talent for cooking. In this time of loss, Telesfor's family takes comfort in the memories of his love and dedication. His life of service, both in the military and in his community, stands as a testament to his character and the profound impact he had on those around him. A private memorial service will be held to honor Telesfor's life and service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to veterans' organizations in Telesfor's memory. Services for Telesfor Samuel Lovato will be held on June 8th, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at TAP Sandoval County Vietnam Veteran Memorial across from Allsup's Bernalillo New Mexico Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Location 301 South Camino del Pueblo Bernalillo, New Mexico 87004
