Steve Herrera

November 30, 1964 — August 3, 2023

Steve Herrera, a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away on August 3, 2023 at the Veteran's Hospital in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by his cherished family and loved ones.... Steve's journey on this earth came to a close. He leaves behind a legacy filled with love, kindness, and unwavering faith.

Born on November 30, 1964, Steve was the son of Rita Romero and Pully Herrera. His mother was his guiding light throughout his life. Steve shared a special bond with his brother Paul and sister Yvonne, who were there for each other through thick and thin. His grandpa Trinidad held a special place in Steve's heart and their time spent together created countless treasured memories.

In 1982, Steve made a significant commitment to serve his country by joining the US Marines. Being a Marine was something he took great pride in and exemplified the values of honor, loyalty, and bravery. Throughout his service, Steve demonstrated unwavering dedication to maintaining peace and security.

After serving in the United Marine Corps, Steve met the love of his life, Julie. They formed an unbreakable bond that endured for 26 beautiful years of marriage. Together they raised four children - Kristie, Jamie, Holly, and Levi - who brought immense joy to their lives. Additionally, from a previous marriage, he had two sons named Adam and Joseph. With Julie by his side every step of the way, Steve created a loving home filled with warmth and laughter.

Steve had an extensive network of friends and family who deeply cared for him. His infectious smile and genuine personality drew people to him effortlessly. He maintained deep friendships with those who shared his faith through regular bible study sessions with Brian, Maurice, and many others. Steve was always amazed by the unwavering commitment these friends had towards their spiritual growth; he found inspiration in each and every one of them.

Though Steve had many passions in life, the greatest of all was his love and devotion to serving God. His faith was the cornerstone of his existence and he continuously expressed gratitude for his salvation. Steve's unwavering belief in God's love guided him through all aspects of his life, providing strength, wisdom, and compassion.

Steve was recognized as a hardworking and devoted man who tirelessly provided for his family whom he held so dear. He showered them with love, encouragement, and a genuine desire to see each of them succeed. He led by example, teaching them invaluable life lessons that will forever remain etched in their hearts.

The impact Steve had on those around him cannot be fully captured in words. His genuine compassion, unwavering support, and radiant smile will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. The void left by his passing will be deeply felt, but we take solace in knowing that because of Steve, we have discovered a deeper connection to Jesus Christ.

As we bid farewell to Steve Herrera, let us remember him as a beacon of light in both good times and challenging moments. May his memory inspire us to embrace life with courage, kindness, and an unyielding faith.

Rest in peace, dear Steve. Your spirit will forever live on within our hearts.

"Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life.

The one who belives in me will live eventhough they die; and whomever lives by believing in me, will never die."

John 11: 25-26
