Steve Daniel Hernandez, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, born November 22, 1953, in Roswell, New Mexico passed away on September 20, 2025.
Family and Legacy
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Yolanda. Together, they built a family grounded in love and respect. Steve leaves behind his daughter Rosa and her husband Amos, daughter Patricia and her husband George, and his only son, Steve Junior, and his wife Sheryl. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Michael and his wife Annayssa, Jeremiah, Jessika, Steve III, Noah, Mathew and his wife Rose, Zoe, Aimee, Lyanna, Dominique, Joseph, Samantha, Ashley, James, and Monique and her husband Joseph. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Jiraiya, Orianna, Aspen, Braelynn, Lilah, and Amara.
He is also survived by his brothers Eddie, Alex, Elfego, Joe, Virgil, and his sister Frances, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Remembering Those Who Came Before
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Elfego and Erminda Hernandez, his stepmother Dodie, his brothers Anthony and Adam, and his sister Patricia. Their memories continued to inspire and guide him throughout his life.
Service and Community Involvement
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Steve served his country with honor. His commitment to community was clear in his years as a volunteer umpire for North Valley Little League and his active participation in city and county softball. These activities were among his favorite pastimes, where he built lasting friendships and contributed to the joy of others.
A Life Well-Lived
Above all, Steve cherished time with his family. In recent years, gathering with loved ones became his greatest joy. His warmth, wisdom, and generosity of spirit touched everyone who knew him.
Steve Daniel Hernandez, Sr. will be sorely missed. His name will forever be honored, and his legacy will live on through the many lives he influenced. We remember him as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
