Sandra D. Chavez passed away peacefully in her home on July 20, 2025. She was born in San Bernardino, California, and was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Sandra was a beloved soulmate, mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her soulmate, Robert Rivera; father, Jerry Baca; mother, Viola Aranda; stepmother, Veronica Duran; brothers, Albert Padilla and Anthony Baca; sister, Betty Ann Baca; and uncle, Chris Chavez. Sandra is survived by her sisters Rosina and Geraldine Baca; sons Dennis Lucero and Donald “Tiny” Chavez (Stephanie); daughters Yvette Chavez, Vanessa (Mark) Prada, step-children Reynalda “Rey” (Kurt) Kastendieck, and Jennifer and Kimberly Rivera. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her love and legacy. Sandra’s life was defined by her compassion, resilience, and deep devotion to her family. Her warmth and wisdom touched everyone who knew her, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Pallbearers: Dion Bachicha and Christian Kavanaugh Honorary Pallbearers: Donald Chavez, Dennis Lucero, Mark Prada, Chris Vigil, Antonio Trujillo, Joseph Ramirez, and Marcus Francis. A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at San Isidro Parish Center, 3552 Agua Fria St., Santa Fe, NM 87507. The Rosary will begin at 9:45 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at San Jose Church (La Cienega), 128 Camino San Jose, Santa Fe, NM 87507. She will be deeply missed.
