Loving Memory of Samuel D. Pino

September 13, 1939 – April 24, 2025

Samuel D. Pino, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the age of 85. Born in the small town of Magdalena, New Mexico, to Antonio and Luisa Pino, Sam lived his life with a quick wit, a playful spirit, and an endless supply of laughter that he shared freely with everyone around him.

He is survived by his former wife, Mary Hall and their children: Catherine Pino and her wife, Ingrid, of Bethesda, Maryland; Robert Pino and his wife, Lisa, of Albuquerque; and Steven Pino of Albuquerque. He is a proud grandfather to Reyes Pino of Albuquerque; Cruz Pino and his wife, Lorissa of Los Chavez; and Bella and Maddie Pino, of Albuquerque. Sam also leaves behind his beloved sister, Grace Aragon, and her husband, Roy of Wisconsin; his sister-in-law, Esther Pino of Albuquerque; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Luisa Pino; and his siblings: Salvador, Paul, Louis and his first wife Grego, and Jim Pino; Mary; Esther Gomez and her husband, Bacilio; Josephine Biggs and her husband, Terry; and Beulah Aragon and her husband, Bob; his beloved daughter-in-law, Cara Pino and his godson, Tony Pino. Sam graduated from Magdalena High School and was drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served. He spent most of his career in the grocery business, where his funny and charming personality made a lasting impression.

He was a voracious reader, a gifted storyteller, and the kind of person who could always lift a room with his laughter and well-timed jokes. A regular at the local casino, Sam loved sharing his "winning strategies" at the slot machines with anyone who would listen—usually with a twinkle in his eye.

His legacy will live on in the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the hearts of those who loved him.
