Rose had a heart of gold and an effortless ability to turn strangers into friends.

Rose D. Hendrickson, 78, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, surrounded by her children and dear friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on September 26, 1947, in the Philippines, Rose moved to the United States in the early 1970s and made Albuquerque her home for most of her life.

Rose had a heart of gold and an effortless ability to turn strangers into friends. She could walk into a room full of unfamiliar faces and leave with a dozen new best friends. Her energy was infectious, her smile unforgettable, and her love for people was evident in everything she did. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.

Services will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. The Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass. A reception will be held at Post 99 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join in sharing refreshments, memories, and stories celebrating Rose’s life.

Her energy was infectious, her smile unforgettable, and her love for people was evident in everything she did.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to UNM Children’s Hospital/Carrie Tingley Hospital.

Rose is survived by her four daughters, one son, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister Manita, and her beloved puppy, Cuddles, who was the center of her world. She also leaves behind a wide circle of deeply cherished friends, especially Angie, who will forever carry Rose’s memory in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents and other beloved family members.

A pillar of her community and a passionate supporter of veterans, Rose volunteered countless hours throughout the years. Whether she was distributing newspapers at the VA Hospital every Friday morning, preparing meals at Post 99 or Post 401, or lending a helping hand wherever needed, she gave generously of her time and talents. She truly loved life and all it had to offer, bringing joy and flavor wherever she went. Whether singing her heart out with a microphone in hand or filling people’s plates with her delicious food, Rose was a natural entertainer whose warmth touched countless lives.

Rose was a devoted Catholic whose faith was the foundation of her life. She shared that faith with her family.

She truly loved life and all it had to offer, bringing joy and flavor wherever she went.

During her time in the hospital, we would often ask about her favorite scripture and pray for a miracle. God heard those prayers and welcomed her home into His eternal kingdom. Though her family longed to keep her here, they take comfort in knowing she is now free from pain and at peace.

May Rose’s legacy of love, forgiveness, generosity, and unwavering faith continue to inspire all who knew her. She lived life to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same.

Mama, you are deeply missed and remain one of the strongest women we were ever blessed to know. May you rest in eternal paradise. The world is a little different without your presence, but your love and spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.

Love,

Jerome, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Carmen and Regina
