Robert "Bobby" Lee Atkerson, of Corrales, New Mexico, entered into eternal rest on June 14, 2026, at the age of 79. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, home builder, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family touched all who knew him.
Born on November 28, 1946, in Corrales, New Mexico, Bobby spent his life in the community he loved. A skilled and dedicated home builder, he took great pride in his work and the lasting impact it had on the families and neighborhoods he helped create. Through his craftsmanship, hard work, and attention to detail, Bobby built more than houses—he helped build homes where memories were made and families flourished.
Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His military service reflected the courage, dedication, and sense of duty that remained with him throughout his life. He carried those values with him in both his personal and professional life and earned the respect of all who knew him.
Family was the center of Bobby's life. He cherished time spent with his loved ones and found his greatest joy in watching his family grow through the generations.
Bobby is survived by his son, Robert Atkerson and daughter-in-law, Andrea Atkerson; his daughter, Lisa Griego and her companion, Joe Padilla; his loving sister, Betty McBaine and her husband, Tilford McBaine; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was a proud grandfather to Ashley Lucero and her husband, Enrique Lucero; Robert Zachary Atkerson and his wife, Crista Atkerson; Andrew Saavedra; and Anthony Saavedra. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Scarlett Lucero, Grace Lucero, Sophia Lucero, Peyton Lucero, Lainey Atkerson, and Macie Atkerson.
Bobby had a passion for the open road and especially loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Whether taking scenic rides through New Mexico or simply enjoying the freedom and camaraderie that came with being on his bike, those rides brought him great happiness. His adventurous spirit, love of the outdoors, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures will be remembered by all who knew him.
Bobby's legacy is one of service, craftsmanship, integrity, and love. Whether serving his country, building homes, or caring for his family, he approached every part of life with dedication and pride. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, sense of humor, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the homes he built, the family he loved, and the many lives he enriched.
