Rick was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado where he attended local Catholic Schools, St.
Joseph’s, Roncalli High and Pueblo County High school. He was an athlete during his school
years playing on football and baseball teams. His interest and love of music grew out of a family
tradition, following in his father’s and uncle’s footsteps. His talent in playing the bass guitar lead
him to play with local rock bands with brothers and friends which also allowed him to perform
in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He toured with his band to California where he performed and
recorded music. Rick quickly formed a connection to his new home, Albuquerque, where he
met new friends and formed close relationships. He loved the culture, food and people of
Albuquerque and spoke fondly of all that surrounded him. It was there that he also met his
wife, Sylvia.
Rick is preceded in death by his father, Ralph (Blackie) Gonzalez and brother, Kenny Gonzalez as
well as numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his wife Sylvia of 47
years, daughter Ashley, son Aaron and " daughter in love Jessica " and three grandchildren, Noah,
Micah, and Layla Gonzalez of Albuquerque. Surviving family members from Colorado include
his mother, Angelina Gonzalez, siblings, Pat, Lawrence, Karen and Mark Gonzalez and Vanessa
Apodaca. Numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great niece, cousins, and aunts also hold
him lovingly in memory.
Rick was a loving and generous Husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend whose positive
energy, fun loving spirit, love of music, witty disposition attracted many to his company. He will
be greatly missed to all who knew him.
