Randall Edward Thomas, affectionately known as Randy, passed away on July 7, 2026. Born on May 4, 1952, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was the cherished son of DuWayne Earl and Frances “Betty” Elizabeth Thomas, both having preceded him in death.

Randy settled in Milan, New Mexico, where he built a life defined by service, hard work, humor, and love for his family. After graduating from Alhambra High School, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years as a Concrete Finishing Specialist. His military service instilled a strong discipline and work ethic that carried through his life.

Following his service, Randy enjoyed a long career as a semi-truck driver, logging over 30 years on the road. Known for his reliability and professionalism, he worked local routes and traveled nationwide as an over-the-road driver. Additionally, Randy worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator on state projects throughout New Mexico and Arizona. He possessed skills in carpentry, welding, and cement finishing. He concluded his career at the El Segundo coal mine in New Mexico, retiring in 2016.

Randy married Erlynn LaRae Arp from Grants, and they shared 45 years of marriage full of laughter and love. He was a proud father to two sons, Shannon Randall (Amanda) and Brandon Earl (Michael), and a devoted grandfather to seven grandchildren: Andy, Owen, Chryssy, Jaydin, Rylee, Jonah, and Abby.

Randy's adventurous spirit was evident in his hobbies: fishing, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, leatherworking, and mountain escapades. As a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed riding his Harley, relishing the company of his brothers. He also engaged in racing his 1966 Pontiac Tempest, adding excitement to his younger years.

Those who knew Randy remember his unmistakable personality — a practical joker with a dry sense of humor and a flair for pranks. A family story recalls his siblings tying him to a grapefruit tree as a child, sparking laughter even decades later. He created cherished memories, including a memorable 2012 hunting trip where Frosted Flakes and Diet Mountain Dew surprisingly mimicked the taste of Fruity Pebbles.

Randy is survived by his siblings Ruth, Retha, Robin, and Russ of Arizona, and Roger of Florida. He joins in rest his brothers Rick, Ron, and Raymond of Arizona.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 518 Valencia Ave, Milan, New Mexico, with military honors at 1:30 PM MST. Food and fellowship will follow. The family requests donations to the New Mexico Wildlife Federation in lieu of flowers, honoring Randy's lifelong passion for the outdoors.

Randy lived boldly, worked diligently, and loved deeply. His stories, humor, and spirit will resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
