Piedad Chavez

Piedad Chavez, a firm believer in the redemption and faith that is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2023 at the age of 92 surrounded by her loving
family. She was born, raised and lived in Atrisco. In her ministry of the Word of God, she was known by
many as Sister Pat. Piedad was proceeded in death by her husband Antonio (Tony) Chavez and her son,
Richard Castillo. She is survived by her sister Elsie Apodaca; sons, Fred Castillo and spouse Terri; Gerald
Castillo and spouse Rosemarie, Richard’s spouse Christine; her daughter Mary Lou Vallejos; and step-son
Dean Chavez. She was Grandma to 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 13 great, great
grandchildren. Piedad will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM with Tony on January
19, 2024 at noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name towards an organization in
need as an example of her lifelong practice of charity.
