David

Phyllis David passed away on March 24 th 2026, at the age of 95 in Albuquerque, New
Mexico at her son Mark’s house. She was born March 25 th 1930 in Schenectady New York to
William Beachner and Ana Beachner (née Bertrand). At a young age, she moved with her
family to Washington State. She graduated from Eastern Washington University with a
Bachelor’s Degree in education. Later, she would later finish her Master’s Degree in Lincoln
Nebraska. Phyllis would go on to have a long and successful career as an English teacher in
Richland Washington, following in her mother’s footsteps as an educator. She would
eventually meet and marry Kenneth David while living in Walla Walla. She raised two sons,
Mark and Michael David who would themselves both grow up to have successful careers and
children of their own.
Phyllis was a lifelong traveler going to every continent besides Antarctica, and got to
see famous landmarks like Mount Everest, Macchu Picchu and the Great Wall of China. She
accompanied students on trips around the world through the People-to-People program,
going to places like China and Europe. Phyllis enjoyed spending time in the outdoors and
went camping with her friends when possible. She collected a variety of artifacts through her
travels, including a large collection of unusually shaped bottles.
Phyllis would eventually retire from teaching and after some time she moved to Rio
Rancho New Mexico to be closer to her son Mark. She was active at the Meadowlark Senior
Center in Rio Rancho New Mexico, where she would participate in a wide variety of activities
and go on to make several friends. Phyllis was a lifelong lover of the arts and enjoyed
attending plays, musicals, and galleries with her friends whenever possible. She would
eventually lead the Meadowlark Rockhounds, a rock collecting group at the Meadowlark
Senior Center. Her other passions were gardening and animals. She maintained both a
garden and house-plants throughout much of her life, growing a variety of herbs, vegetables,
and flowers. She was also an animal lover, who adopted multiple cats over the course of her
life and made contributions to local animal rescues. Phyllis was cared for in the final years of
her life by her son Mark and grandson Nathan. Phyllis is survived by her two children Mark
and Michael David, grandchildren Nathan David, Tyler David, Jonathan David, Jennifer Hill,
and Christopher David as well as great grand children Joshua Hill, Isabella Hill, and Brandon
Hill. She will be dearly missed by her surviving friends and family.
