Phillip “Vato” Anthony Mora

April 23, 1968 — April 3, 2022

Phillip “Vato” Anthony Mora, age 53, born April 23, 1968 went home with the Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2022. It was a beautiful Sunday morning when Vato took his last breath at home in Escobosa NM. Vato was born and raised in Albuquerque, but his heart was always in Escobosa on the Family Rancho. He moved there eventually and started a family. His passion was his family, his daughters, his horses, and Rodeo, being a USTRC Champion Team Roper. He loved his family history and loved sharing it with everyone. He loved doing for his family and friends and especially having a cold beer on a hot afternoon with anyone who stopped by. He was an amazing dad to his two daughters and did anything for them. He loved spending time with his girls and loved them with everything he had. He was the coolest dad anyone could have ever asked for. From teaching his girls to ride horses and to operate a backhoe to playing dolls and making them peanut butter and syrup sandwiches. They are blessed to have had so many amazing memories with him. Their time together was spent cooking, riding the four-wheeler, feeding the horses together, listening to the radio, talking on the porch, and going to eat regularly at Village Inn, his favorite spot. They will never forget the countless trips to the mall that were torture for their dad who was happy to remain in the mountains as far away from city life as possible. He endured it for them and would have done anything for them. Those memories will live in their hearts forever and never be forgotten. His loyalty knew no bounds and his family and friends were everything to him. His life was filled with trials, tribulations and tragedy, but his faith in God and love for his family kept him going.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Mora, his father Victor Mora, his mother in-law Irene Angus, and his beloved dog Rowdy. He is survived by his daughters Felice and Olivia Mora, their mother Rose Angus, brother James Mora (wife Karen Mora), sister Jeanette Tatum (husband Kevin Tatum), sister Josephine Granillo (partner Jesus Coronado), Nieces Leticia Mora (Enrique) and Jessica Mora (Mario), Nephews James Mora (Charrisa), Eloy Mora (Krista), Darian Tatum, Victor Granillo (Yahaira) and Roman Granillo (Lucero), great Nieces and Nephews Justin, Evangeline, Nikala, Joshua, Jada, Sienna, Cheyenne, Ashley, Miguelito, Elian and Mckenzie. His family asks for your prayers and that you honor him by living life to the fullest.
