Phil Andrew Garcia, age 65, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, took his final joyride into eternity on June 8, 2026. After a long and complicated wrestling match with his health, he finally cashed in what must have been his ninth and final life. Wherever he is now, we can all assume he’s on a Harley, hair blowing, tattoos gleaming, and absolutely ignoring every posted rule.

A rebel from day one and a Peter Pan to the end, Phil lived with a gentle spirit, and a mischievous streak. In his younger years, he was the life of every party—fun, hilarious, magnetic, and occasionally up to no good. Phil proudly broke social norms not by accident, but as a full‑time hobby. He strutted through life with the brains of a genius who hated school, never studied, and still somehow knew everything. Rules? Guidelines? Expectations? Phil treated those like polite suggestions for other people. He was stubborn, resilient, and impossible to predict—equal parts tough guy and soft heart. Toward the end, he became nostalgic, reflecting on his wild adventures, old stories, and the winding road that made him who he was. Phil faced addiction along the way, but even in those battles, he kept his humor and his grit. He raised his kids the best way he knew how, holding down multiple jobs and inventing more than a few off‑the‑books enterprises. He hustled with love, determination, and creativity—and his kids always knew how hard he tried.

He leaves behind his beloved children—AJ, Bobby, Vanessa, and KC—who inherited his fire, his humor, and his stubborn streak. He also leaves six grandchildren—Devlin, Ellie, Marcos, Aurora, Omi, and Scarlett—who were his pride, his joy, and his favorite excuse to brag. Phil also leaves behind his siblings—Debbie, Deann, Rob, David, and Gloria, and their children, Crystal, Lauren, Josh, and Victoria—who survived a lifetime of his antics and loved him unconditionally anyway. He carried a legendary list of exes (each with their own Phil stories), and he is now reunited with his parents and his beloved brother, Larry Jr., who are surely shaking their heads and laughing as he rolls in.

A Navy veteran, Phil traveled the world collecting stories that grew funnier, wilder, and less factually reliable with each retelling. “It’s water off a duck’s back” wasn’t just a saying for him—it was a life policy. With a brilliant mathematical mind, rock‑and‑roll soul, and enough tattoos and piercings to qualify as walking artwork, Phil was truly one of a kind. Complicated, fascinating, loving, stubborn, hilarious—and unforgettable.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Monday, June 29 at 9 am for interment and prayer at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life reception nearby. Come share stories as we honor a man who lived completely, unapologetically, and undeniably on his own terms.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Phil Garcia’s name be made to Duke City Recovery Toolbox.
