Peter Dale Mann

April 5, 1968 — February 4, 2024

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Peter (“Pete”) Dale Mann on February 4, 2024, at the age of 55. Pete courageously battled a lengthy terminal illness and had been receiving hospice care by Compassus Home Health of Albuquerque since June 2023. Pete was born to Frank and Sharon Mann on April 5, 1968, in Albuquerque, NM. He attended Del Norte High School and completed his education through a General Educational Development program. He worked for Levi Strauss & Company, and he was an over-the-road truck driver for Swift Transportation. Pete was a skilled tradesman, having completed a master carpentry, general woodworking and construction certification program through Central New Mexico Community College. His construction work included projects through Gerald Martin and Kassam Construction. He worked and provided oversight on several major construction projects in Albuquerque and in Seattle, Washington. Pete is survived by his wife Karen Haas-Mann of Albuquerque; daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and John Shedd, of Albuquerque; stepson, Adam Newberry and wife Chenee of Milan, New Mexico; stepson Justin Hass and wife Miranda Vigil of Albuquerque; stepson Daniel Haas of Albuquerque; granddaughter Madison Adeline Shedd; step grandchildren Addison, Alyssa and Kyle Newberry, and Mark Haas; mother-in-law Elinor Bates of Albuquerque; sister, Carol Romero of Albuquerque; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee and Cindy Mann of Spring Branch, Texas; and Ron and Lori Mann of Albuquerque; along with many beloved nieces and nephews and many cherished friends. Pete also leaves behind his loyal canine companion, Houdini, who was dear to him and whose sorrow over the loss of Pete can be seen and felt by everyone. Pete is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Sharon Mann; and his brothers, Robert William Mann, and Edward Frank Mann. Pete never hesitated to lend a helping hand to friends and family. He was a quiet and humble man and he fiercely loved his family. He long surpassed the physician’s predictions regarding his terminal illness, and he was so grateful and happy that he was able to meet and hold his baby granddaughter, Madison, born in December 2023. He loved fishing and camping with his wife, Karen, and just spending time with family and friends. He touched many lives, and his passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew him and whose hearts he touched. Pete’s spiritual journey was fraught, and therefore hard-won. In his final years, he deeply contemplated his life, and he came full circle in his beliefs and committed himself to his faith. Pete, you are greatly missed, but we are happy that you are home free and painless. We will always love and miss you until we can meet again. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Compassus Home Health for their support and compassion during the last months of Pete’s life. To honor Pete’s life, a celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 12, at 11 am at Grace Church, 6901 San Antonio Drive, NE, Albuquerque, NM, officiated by Donasiano (“Dee”) Fernandez. Afterwards, there will be a reception, a time for fellowship and sharing our stories of Pete.
