In Loving Memory of Pete Trujillo Jr.
He battled cancer bravely, holding on to hope each and every day. With unwavering strength and quiet courage, he fought until the Lord called him home on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning, February 21, 2026 at the young age of 58.
Our beloved Pete Trujillo Jr.—devoted husband, proud father, loving son, brother, and loyal friend—passed peacefully into eternal rest, surrounded by the love that defined his life.
Pete is survived by his father, Pete Trujillo Sr., whom he cherished deeply. He is also survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Anna Trujillo, his partner in everything and the love of his life. Together they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and unconditional love. He leaves behind his precious daughters, Briana and Marianita, who were his pride and joy.
He is also survived by his sister, Christina Gallegos and her husband Paul, along with their children, Paul Jr., Aidan, and Breale Gallegos. His niece, Michaela Apodaca, also survives him. Pete shared a special bond with his mother-in-law, Ramona Torres, always finding comfort in her faithful prayers. He also had a cherished friendship with his brother-in-law, Joseph Mascarena.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Ignacita Trujillo; his sister, Ramona Apodaca; and his father-in-law, Hernandez Torres. We take comfort in knowing they were waiting to welcome him at Heaven’s gates.
Pete treasured his friendships. Over the years, he formed lifelong bonds and personally chose special friends to serve as his pallbearers—men who stood beside him through the seasons of his life and will now carry him to his final resting place. His pallbearers are: Jonathan Aragon, Anthony Carrasco, Tony Sanchez, Joe Aragon, Danny Garcia, Mel Aragon, Benny Garcia, Noel Garza, Victor Velarde, Lionel LaGrange, Brian Hinkley, and Chris Cuaron. His beloved Godson, Aidan Gallegos, will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
Pete’s daughters will forever miss the simple but meaningful moments—calling their dad for advice about a strange noise in the trucks, asking his opinion before making a big purchase, or sharing pictures of what they were eating. Those everyday conversations were treasures. He enjoyed riding motorcycles with Briana and going hunting and fishing with Marianita, creating special memories with each of his daughters in ways that reflected their unique bonds. Anna and Pete shared 31 beautiful years of marriage and were rarely apart. They were each other’s constant companion, best friend, and greatest support. Their love was steady, faithful, and unconditional.
Pete had a gift for making friends wherever he went—at church, in stores, or at the weekend yard sales he so loved. He didn’t always need to buy something; he simply enjoyed the thrill of finding a great deal. Negotiating was his specialty. He often said, “The answer is always no until you ask,” and more often than not, he walked away with a smile and a “yes.”
After 25 years of dedicated service, Pete proudly retired from Albuquerque Public Schools in 2017. He valued his work and the many friendships he built there. In retirement, he devoted even more time to his father, whom he deeply respected and credited for teaching him life’s lessons. For many years, Pete faithfully walked his dogs Hunter and Nickee each morning to his dad’s home just to visit and talk. Their bond was something truly special.
Pete graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1985. During those years, he became well known for his black and white 1970 Chevelle, affectionately nicknamed “The Skunk.” He took great pride in that car—it wasn’t just a vehicle; it was part of who he was. He loved it, cared for it meticulously, and spoke of it with the same enthusiasm throughout the years.
Pete will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, his humor, and his unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and kindness that will live on in all who knew him.
