Perla Montecillo, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born on December 11, 1954, in Tabuelan, Cebu, to the late Ireneo and Emerenciana Montecillo.
Perla leaves behind a beautiful legacy of joy, elegance, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be fondly remembered as a vibrant soul, the life of every gathering, whose laughter, warmth, and radiant presence could light up any room. Her joyful spirit and love for celebration brought people together and created countless cherished memories.
Known for her impeccable style, Perla took pride in always looking her best and never missed an opportunity to have her hair and nails done. She carried herself with grace, confidence, and an inner beauty that shone just as brightly as her outward appearance.
Above all else, Perla’s greatest love was her family. She held her loved ones close to her heart, especially her relatives in the Philippines, whom she cherished deeply and kept in her prayers. Family was everything to her, and her love will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
Perla is survived by her husband, Larry Mayo; her daughters, Joan Iyog and husband Frank Dexter, and Edith Chrobak and husband Michael Chrobak; and her sons, Daniel Seltzer and Michael Wash. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Mae Chen and her husband Patrick; and her grandsons, Kade Carroll, Nicholas Jacobs, Beth Walsh, and Eli Walsh, siblings Sandra Cuasito, Romeo Montecillo, Vivian Montecillo and Vicky Chng.
In addition to her parents, Perla was preceded in death by her siblings Jessica Sebrero, Susan Iyog, and Danilo Montecillo.
Friends and family are invited to attend funeral services on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Trujillo Family Funeral Home Chapel, located at 110 Alvarado Dr SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, with Pastor Jesus Bernido officiating.
