In Loving Memory of Pastor Joe Williams
His mentorship impacted generations, supporting many through life’s trials and triumphs.
Born Jose Herrera on March 31, 1961, in Juarez, Mexico, Joe moved to Vado, NM, with his mother Tomasa Herrera. He was adopted by her late husband, Charlie Williams, and became Joe Williams. Growing up in Vado, Joe created special memories with his siblings. In December 1985, he welcomed his only child, Teresa Williams.
In his early adulthood, Joe faced challenges but transformed these into strengths, becoming a devoted servant of God. As a pastor at Victory Outreach Church in Albuquerque, NM, he served faithfully and was a Certified Registered Addiction Specialist, offering hope and guidance, especially in addiction recovery. His mentorship impacted generations, supporting many through life’s trials and triumphs.
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Pastor Joe Williams, who peacefully entered the Lord’s presence on July 4, 2026.
Pastor Joe had a compassionate heart, humble spirit, infectious smile, jovial nature, and steadfast faith. His ministry extended beyond the church, touching lives through prayer, encouragement, and kindness. He was a father figure, brother, partner, and trusted friend.
Joe found great joy in prison ministry, passionately spreading hope throughout state prisons.
A loving son, he regularly called his mother and cherished taking her on cruises. She will deeply miss him.
Joe loved classic cars and lowriders, serving as Vice President of the Treasures out of Darkness Lowrider community. He used these passions to connect with others and draw them closer to the Lord.
Joe found great joy in prison ministry, passionately spreading hope throughout state prisons. His travels to Central America showcased his courage, as he brought countless gang members to faith, fulfilling his mission of service.
Isaiah 45:3 says, "I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name." Pastor Joe was our Hidden Treasure.
Though we mourn his loss, we celebrate the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ, whom Joe lived for so passionately. We find comfort knowing he has heard, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His earthly journey is complete, his faith unwavering, and he now rests with our Lord.
Preceded in death by his father Charlie Williams and brothers Charlie (Carlitos) Williams, Ernest Williams, and Leo Williams, he is survived by his daughter Terry Williams, mother Tomasa Herrera, fiancée Yvette Angel Sandoval, siblings Charlie Williams Jr., Rosemary (Estrada) Williams, Ana Few Williams, Leroy Williams, Beatrice Williams, Willie Williams, and John Williams, as well as his godchildren, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.
Pastor Joe’s memory will forever remain in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed to know him.
