Mary Lou Tapia February 10, 1951- January 5, 2026

Mary Lou Tapia (Lujan), 74 passed away surrounded by family and friends at her home in Albuquerque,New Mexico, on January 5,2026 from COPD related issues.

Mary Lou was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 10, 1951, to Antonio and Reynalda Lujan.

Mary Lou was mother to Jessica Mendoza. she raised her child with love and devotion in Albuquerque, New Mexico with George Tapia.

As a WIC Nutrition Educator Interviewer, Mary Lou was known for her integrity, honesty, and strong work ethic. Her hobbies included watching wrestling, going to the casino, and feeding her dogs McDonalds and Burgerking. She was most proud of her granddaughter Reyna.

She survived by her daughter Jessica Mendoza, her husband David Mendoza, granddaughter Reyna Mendoza, and her boyfriend Jacob Maldonado. Two sisters Jeanette Romero and Dorthy Griego, she also leaves many other family member and friends who will sadly miss her.

Mary Lou Tapia was preceded in death by her husband George Tapia; Her parents Antonio and Reynalda Lujan; Two brothers Gilbert Lujan and Tony Lujan; Niece Cecilia Lujan; Godson Antonio Romero.

Mary Lou’s work family will be honored as her pallbearers.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church 1860 Griegos Rd NW on January 30, 2026. The rosary is at 10:30 AM and the funeral will be at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Mt Calvary 1900 Edith Blvd. NE reception back at church following the burial.
