With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Mary Helen Epinonza, who peacefully passed away on May 13, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born on August 18, 1944, in Montezuma, NM. Helen lived a happy, fulfilled life centered on family, faith, and love. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Helen’s greatest joy was her family, and she had a hand in raising every generation from her younger siblings all the way down to her great-grandchildren. The second you walked into her house you were surrounded by love, oftentimes shown with a great home-cooked meal and a fresh stack of tortillas. She created a home filled with laughter, compassion, and cherished memories that will live on for generations.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Canales, and Son-in-Law, Tomas; grandchildren, Sandra and Steven; great-grandchildren, Camila and Santiago; Sisters, Erlinda, Nancy, Lucy, and Rosie; and Brothers, Lalo, Richard, Peter and Leo, along with their spouses and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.
She was preceded in death by Her Husband, Louis; son, Patrick; Parents, Estella and Genovevo; brothers, Tony, Napo, and Carlos; and Sisters, Dora and Irene.
A celebration of her life will be held on May 21, 2026, at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church, starting with the Rosary to be recited at 10:30 am and the Funeral Mass to follow. Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor and remember a remarkable woman whose love will never fade.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing her legacy lives on in the family she cherished so deeply. She will be profoundly missed and forever loved.
