Mary “Romalda” Dominguez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, Mary “Romalda” Dominguez at the age of 88. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 22, 2023. Mary was born in Estancia, NM on April 28, 1934, and moved to Grants, NM in August of 1945. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Dominguez; parents, Frank and Floripa Brito; siblings, Joe, Herman, Luciano, Julian, Pino, Priscilla and Tillie. Mary is survived by her brother, Jimmy, and sister Rose; children, Dr. Frank & Phyllis Dominguez, Anthony & Debbie Dominguez, Billy & Estlee Dominguez, Janice & Dempsey Emerson, Audrey & Rick Juliani, and Mark & Erin Dominguez;  17 grandchildren, and 35 great- grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives.

Mary graduated from Grants High School and was married in May of 1953, to Herman Dominguez. They lived together in Grants for 48 years where she would raise her family. She was employed by Mesa Transportation as a bus driver. Mary influenced many young lives not only as a caring bus driver, but also through her many years with the Grants Recreation Department.

Mary was a woman of great faith and loved her church choir and prayer group. Mary enjoyed spending time playing and listening to music, crocheting, and cooking. Most of all, Mary was a loving mom and grandmother who enjoyed playing guitar, singing, and dancing with her grandchildren.  Her love, laughter and hugs will be greatly missed.
