Our beloved Mary Caroline passed away on April 18, 2026, at the age of 88. A

Registered Nurse and licensed massage therapist for many years, Mary dedicated her

life to caring for others and brought healing to countless people. Born in Houston, she

lived in California for several years before moving to New Mexico more than 45 years

ago. She worked at the UNMH adult psychiatric unit while also maintaining her

massage therapy practice. During the height of the AIDS epidemic, Mary

compassionately cared for many who were afflicted with the virus, at a time when others

were often reluctant to do so.

Mary was a compassionate and caring woman, a loyal friend, and an avid art collector

who enthusiastically supported many of her artist friends and their work. She is survived

by her nephews, Bill and Mark Owens. Her cherished memory lives on in the hearts of

her friends and family.
