Marjorie Ann Baca

August 23, 1949 — November 7, 2022

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Marjorie Ann Baca (Whitcraft) passed away on November 7, 2022 in Albuquerque surrounded by her family. She fought a courageous battle with cancer that came to an end due to complications of a COVID infection. Marjorie was born on August 23,1949 in Poulsbo, Washington. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Lorenzo, son Michael and wife Celia, daughter Jean Marie and fiancé Mike Villa, and cherished grandchildren Esteban and Isabel; sister Mary Wlodarchak; brother Jim Whitcraft and wife Linda; sister-in-law Denise Whitcraft; numerous brothers & sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Rose Whitcraft and siblings Bernard, John, and Jean Marie as well as in-laws Gregorio, Candelaria, Patricia, Lucy, Jenny, and Seledon. Marjorie touched the lives of hundreds of students and mentored numerous teachers during her 30 year career as an educator. She was an incredible cook and amazing baker, delighting family members with elaborate cakes for each birthday. Marjorie had a passion for travel that was sparked during Lorenzo’s military career, leading to 50 years of adventures in locales across the globe and in her own backyard. Marjorie also enjoyed painting, crafting, music, and gardening but found her greatest joy in her family.

 

There will be a Rosary Monday, November 14th at 7:30pm and a Funeral Mass Tuesday, November 15th at 10:00am. Both will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Marjorie will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, November 16th at 10:00am.

 

The family is grateful to the staff at Rust Medical Center for the comfort and care they provided during Marjorie’s final days.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and please get vaccinated against COVID-19.
