In Loving Memory of

Marina Z. Villanueva Barry January 11, 1955 – February 26, 2026

“Well, done, good and faithful servant.”— Matthew 25:23

Marina Z. Villanueva Barry was born on January 11, 1955, in Los Angeles, California, to Martha Villanueva and Lionel Villanueva, both of whom preceded her in death. She passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026. Marina lived a life defined by faith, humility, service, and a deep love for her family.

On October 4, 1992, in Portland, Oregon, Marina married the love of her life, Ricky R. Barry. Their marriage was built on devotion, respect, and quiet strength. For 34 years they shared life together as partners and best friends, supporting one another through life’s joys and challenges with patience, love, and unwavering commitment.

Marina came from a large and loving family. She had three sisters, one of whom preceded her in passing and two who survive her in New Mexico and California, as well as five surviving brothers. She was a proud and loving aunt to several nieces and nephews and a devoted great-aunt who cherished watching the younger generations grow and thrive.

A woman of dedication and integrity, Marina faithfully served the United States for 37 years with the United States Marshals Service. During her career she worked in Los Angeles, California, Portland, Oregon, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she eventually retired after decades of honorable service. She approached her work with discipline, commitment, and a strong sense of duty.

Faith was the foundation of Marina’s life. At Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo, New Mexico, she served as a Eucharistic minister, a trusted lay member of the church who assists in distributing Holy Communion during Mass and brings Communion to those who are unable to attend. She humbly gave her time and heart to serving her church and community.

Marina was known by family and friends as a truly giving and humble person. She lived simply and was never concerned with money, possessions, or status. Instead, she valued faith, family, compassion, and service to others. She loved animals deeply and carried a gentle spirit that reflected her belief in caring for all of God’s creation.

Those who knew Marina remember her as a grounded and generous person who gave freely of herself without seeking recognition. She believed that the true value of life was not measured by what we accumulate, but by the love we share and the kindness we show to others.

Her life reminds us that the greatest legacy a person can leave is one of faith, humility, and love. Marina’s quiet strength and generous heart touched many lives, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband Ricky, her brothers and sisters, her nieces and nephews, and all whose lives were blessed by her presence.

A private celebration of Marina’s life will be held with her immediate family and close friends. The family appreciates your prayers and kind thoughts during this time.
