Marina Carmen Gallegos, 75 of Socorro, New Mexico passed on the afternoon of Monday, June 19, 2023.

She was born on January 28, 1948, in Socorro, New Mexico to Meliton and Marina Gallegos. She graduated from Socorro High School in 1966. Carmen retired in 2017 after 34 years from the County of Socorro, proudly serving as Socorro County Clerk for 8 of those years.

Carmen touched the lives of many people and loved her family so very much. She was widely known for always having a smile on her beautiful face no matter what life threw at her. Carmen found positivity in any situation, and always saw the best in everyone. She was the most kindhearted, compassionate person, and always put everyone’s needs in front of her own.  She always had beautiful words of wisdom and lived a life of love and care. Her children and their happiness were the most important thing to her.

Carmen is survived by her son Samuel Padilla Jr. grandson Samuel Padilla III and great grandson Samuel Padilla IV. Her daughter Michelle Paz and husband Adam Paz, grandson Adam Paz Jr. and spouse Kiara, great grandchildren, Aleyah Lucero, Amidara Paz and Adam Paz III. Granddaughter Marina Paz and spouse Jacob, granddaughters Gabriella Paz and Camren Paz. Grandson Anthony Padilla Jr., granddaughter Shanley Collins, great grandchildren Rylan, Kyler, and Delaney Collins. Her sisters Berlinda Pino and husband Manuel, Erma Tafoya and husband Arthur, her brother Sam Gallegos and wife Alycia. Many nieces and nephews, family, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her son Anthony Padilla Sr., her parents Meliton and Marina Gallegos, and her brothers Tony M Gallegos Jr., Roman Gallegos, Louis Gallegos, Gilbert Gallegos. Her nephew Darryl Gallegos, Niece Natalie Moreno, and great nephew Noah Moreno.

A Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday July 5th at 7:00 PM at San Miguel Church. A Holy Mass will be held on July 6th at 10:00 AM at San Miguel Church with a burial to follow in the San Miguel Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Adam Paz Sr., Samuel Padilla III, Anthony Padilla Jr., Adam Paz Jr., Jacob Breaux, Sam Gallegos, Manuel Pino Sr., Arthur Tafoya, Manuel Pino Jr., Gilbert Armijo, Jonathan Pino, and Loren Tafoya.
