Maria Herminia Montoya
June 17, 1951 – July 9, 2025
Maria Herminia Montoya passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, on June 17, 1951, Maria was tough, determined, and full of fire. She lived life on her own terms—with pride, independence, and a fierce love for her family.
She raised her three sons—Martin, Nicolas, and Rafael Gutierrez—with a lot of tough love and a strong hand. She didn’t sugarcoat anything, but everything she did came from the heart. Her goal was always to make sure her boys had a better life—and she made that happen through hard work, sacrifice, and pure determination.
Maria had a sharp sense of humor, a quick wit, and a look that could say everything without a word. She enjoyed her garden, a good laugh, and the occasional trip to the casino. You always knew where you stood with her—and that’s exactly why we loved her.
She is survived by her sons—Martin Gutierrez, Nicolas Gutierrez (wife Eva Gutierrez), and Rafael Gutierrez (wife Noemi Bustillos); her grandchildren—Isabel Deaton (husband Zack Deaton), Antonio Gutierrez, Nicolas Gutierrez Jr. (wife Aide Gutierrez), Cristina Downs (husband Kaleb Downs), Carina Gutierrez, Alicia Gutierrez, Elias Gutierrez, and Sara Gutierrez; and her great-grandchildren—Adrian Gutierrez, Adrianna Gutierrez, Ellie Deaton, and Kirra Deaton.
Maria was strong, loving, and unapologetically herself. She left behind a family that’s tougher, wiser, and better because of her. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
