Lyons

Margaret Sue LyonsOctober 28, 1950 – July 11, 2026
Margaret Sue Lyons, lovingly known as "Sue" to family and friends, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 75.
Sue was a woman whose kindness, generosity, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though naturally shy and deeply introverted, she possessed an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen, cared for, and loved. Whether through a thoughtfully chosen gift, a home-cooked meal, a listening ear, or simply her quiet presence, Sue gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly. Caring for others was not just something she did—it was who she was.
As a single mother, Sue devoted herself completely to raising her daughter, Margaret. Through life's challenges, she created a home filled with love, security, encouragement, and opportunity. She supported every interest, celebrated every success, and stood steadfastly beside her daughter through every setback, offering unconditional love, wisdom, and strength. Her greatest joy was seeing those she loved thrive.
Sue's generosity extended far beyond her own family. She welcomed countless friends into her home, providing not only meals and a safe place to gather but also comfort, guidance, and compassion during difficult times. Many who crossed her path considered her a second mother, and her quiet acts of kindness touched lives in ways both great and small.
Although Sue often struggled to recognize her own worth, those around her never doubted how deeply cherished she was. Her gentle spirit, thoughtful heart, and selfless love created lasting bonds with everyone fortunate enough to know her. The outpouring of love from friends and family is a testament to the remarkable person she was.
Sue is survived by her beloved daughter, Margaret DeGraw; her son-in-law, Spencer DeGraw; her cherished grandson, Austin DeGraw; and her sister, Kelly Lyons. She also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and countless others whose lives were enriched by her kindness and love.
Sue's family finds comfort in knowing that she is now free from pain and at peace. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy of compassion, generosity, and unconditional love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
She was a devoted mother, a treasured mother-in-law, a proud grandmother affectionately known as "Granny Soup," a beloved sister, and a loyal friend. She was, quite simply, one of the brightest lights in the lives of those who loved her.
A Celebration of Life Brunch will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Weck's, 4500 Osuna Rd NE #100, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the beautiful life Sue lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Eagle Foundation, a cause close to Sue's heart. Those who wish to honor her in another way are encouraged to spend a few quiet moments watching the majestic bald eagles on the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam—something that brought Sue immense joy and peace.
Rest in peace, sweetest Sue. May you soar free with your eagles.
