Margaret (Nieto) Lucero

Margaret was born on June 12, 1949, to Manuelita (Sena) Nieto and Alfonso Nieto in Curry, New Mexico. She was the fourth of eleven siblings.

Margaret (Margie) was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Manuelita Nieto; her son, Alexander (Alex) Lucero; her brothers, Horacio Nieto, Gilbert (Gangster) Nieto, and Aldofo Nieto; her sister, Rosemary Torres; her goddaughter, Alicia Lucero; and her lifelong partner, Edward Lopez.

She is survived by her only son, Pilar Lucero Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Christina Cardenas and husband Sergio of Colorado, Alex Cordova and wife Camille of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Pilar (PJ) Lucero IV of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Berlin Da Lucero of California.

Great-grandchildren Emiliano, Santiago, Solicía, Selena, Samuel, and Samantha Cardenas of Colorado, Xiamara Cordova of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lovian Parra of California, and godson Alfred Nieto of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Also surviving are her sister Lydia Maldonado and husband Porfilio of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother Eloy Sena and wife Patty of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister Marylou Nieto of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brothers Johnny and Estevan Nieto; brother Alonzo Nieto and wife Wanda of Los Lunas, New Mexico; and sister-in-law Eloisa Nieto of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Margaret (Margie) was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque who enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her sisters Lydia and Marylou. She loved all her siblings dearly.

Margie was always the life of the party. She loved Spanish music, dancing, and her little getaways to the casino. She also enjoyed traveling and much more. As many may recall, it was never a dull moment in her presence. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was truly special to all who knew her, especially her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Margie was a devout Catholic and a member of San Jose Parish.

Margie was truly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Celebration of Life for Margie:

The first service will take place at the Trujillo Family Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, June 9, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  A Funeral Mass will be held at San Jose Catholic Parish on Wednesday, June 10, with viewing at 9:30 am, rosary at 10:00 am, and Mass at 10:30 am. Services will conclude by 11:15 am, followed by interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery by noon. A reception will be held at the Zapata Club, 2723 1/2 Isleta Blvd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105.
