Klein
Jul 7, 1944 — Jun 26, 2026
Margaret Cheryl Anderson Klein passed away after a lengthy illness early Saturday morning, July 26, 2026. She said she could tell who was calling her on the phone by what name they used. Family called her Dudy, friends from school called her Cheryl and her military friends called her Andy.
She was born July 7, 1944, in Springer, New Mexico and joined the Army after graduation in 1964. She suffered an injury to a leg while stationed in Korea and received a medical discharge.
After returning to the States, she has had numerous surgeries to fight a degenerative bone disease caused by her injury and also had cancer.
Margaret was a veteran advocate for many years before retiring and has been a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Albuquerque.
One of her big loves were her animals, both dogs and cats which included a 3-legged cat which turned into a two-legged cat. She passed away with her beloved Irish Setter ‘Red’ lying beside her.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Anderson and Margaret McCall Anderson. Surviving her is her brother, Robert L Anderson and his wife, Nancy of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, Robert Brian Anderson and wife Kami, Arlington, TX; Michael Brett Anderson and wife Blythe, Reno, NV; Todd Anderson, Germany; David Blade, Rio Rancho and; a niece, Anita Padilla and husband Robert Gonzales. Rio Rancho, NM. She enjoyed her many great nieces and a great nephew. She would tell stories about babysitting some of the older nieces and “they ran me ragged” was what she said.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people who gave their time to making her comfortable and as happy as possible: Mary Ann Sable of St Joseph Church, care givers, Arianna, Isabel and Olivia, plus Jordan, Angelique, Sonja, and others from Interm Hospice for their loving care.
A Mass of Celebration will be held July 18, 2026, at St. Jospeh’s on the Rio Grande Catholic Church at 10 AM. The cremation was handled by Trujillo Funeral Home, and graveside rites will be held at a later date in Springer, NM.
