It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lucio Mora, who peacefully departed on April 23, 2024, at the age of 76, surrounded by his beloved family. Lucio was born on March 4, 1948, in Fabens, Texas, to his mother Rosa Garcia Mora, and the late Luis D. Mora.

Throughout his life, Lucio found great joy in spending quality time with his family, engaging in fishing excursions, sharing captivating tales, and exploring new destinations like Conchas, New Mexico, alongside his cherished wife. A diligent individual with a strong work ethic, Lucio could often be found tending to the yard or immersing himself in various household projects. He humorously reflected on how meeting Berna had introduced him to a different kind of post-work routine - coming home to continue working diligently.

Lucio served his country honorably as a Veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971. Following his military service, he dedicated 25 years of his life as a valued Corrections Officer at the Bernalillo County Detention Center.

He was preceded in death by his father Luis D. Mora and sisters Dominga A. Mora, Gloria Valencia, and Mary Llewelyn. Lucio is survived by his loving wife Berna Mora, devoted mother Rosa Garcia Mora, sons Ray Mora, Samuel Mora, and Lucio Mora Jr., daughters, Priscilla Gonzalez, and Adette Gonzalez; grandchildren Johnny Ray Mora, Amber Platero, Steven Mora, Albert Romero, Andrew Vallejos, Anthony Serna, Alexis Serna; Analeeza Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Briana Platero, George Romero, Leia Romero, Aalyna Giddings, Sabastian Romero, Amariah Giddings; as well as numerous caring nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Funeral services for Lucio will be held on Monday, May 6th at Trujillo Family Funeral Home Chapel from 10:00 am until Noon followed by burial at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 2:00 pm with honors by the US Army Honor Guard. A Celebration of Life gathering in honor of Lucio will take place at American Legion Post #69 located at 9000 4th St.NW Albuquerque, NM beginning at 3:00 pm.

Lucio will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A dedicated group including Samuel Mora, Johnny Chavez, Andrew Vallejos, Albert Romero, Estevan Chavez, and Eric Platero will serve as pallbearers during the time of remembrance.
