Loretta (Romero) Manning

Loretta (Romero) Manning, 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, October 31, 2022 in Socorro, New Mexico.  

Loretta was born on November 18, 1957 in Socorro, New Mexico to Daniel (Danny) Romero and Refugia (Montoya) Romero.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Danny and Refugia Romero.  She is survived by her loving husband Richard Manning; step-children, Tim and wife Betty Manning, Chris Manning and Sheril Bender; brothers, Peter Romero, Nick Romero, Paul Romero, Frank and wife Lori Romero, Herman and wife Annabell Romero; sisters, Carmen and husband Don Lobitz, Veronica and husband Russell Moore, Barbara and husband Mikel Edrington; nieces and nephews, Amanda Carrejo, Nina Carrejo and partner Stacy Lofton, Erin and husband Aaron Trujillo, Randall Romero, Ryan Romero, Levi Romero, Haley and husband Adam Arzaga, Brandon Raymond, Sean Moore, Danielle Moore and fiance Justin Angel, Paul Jr. Romero; great nephews and nieces, Zamari Romero, Henley Rose Arzaga, Jordan and Jason Romero.  

After graduating from Socorro High School in 1975 Loretta moved to Las Cruces, NM.  She started working at White Sands Missile Range as a Tank Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Operator-Driver.   In 1991, Richard and Loretta purchased a ranch in Corona, New Mexico.   When  she retired in 1994 from WSMR  Loretta and  Richard  became full-time ranchers for the next 28 years.   Loretta also worked with Socorro Consolidated Schools, Corona School District, Dica Pearl and City of Corona.

Loretta had a way of making people feel comfortable and everyone gravitated to her welcoming nature.  Loretta was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends even total strangers.  Her kind nature and loving heart came easy for Loretta.  She absolutely adored all her nephews and nieces; she made sure each one felt special and loved.   She attended football, basketball, and soccer games, swim meets, track meets and many golf tournaments always showing  support for her nephews and nieces.  Loretta loved  planning parties and family gatherings, always making sure everyone had a great time.  Loretta  enjoyed all sports but playing softball was her favorite.   Ranch life is hard work, long hours and demanding  responsibilites, but Loretta loved every minute of the ranch life. Tending to her animals, riding her horses and spending time with her fellow ranchers/friends in Corona, NM.  

Loretta will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, positive spirit, unconditional love and her devotion to her family and friends.  

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the Corona Cemetery in Corona, New Mexico.
