Juan Vega, de 100 años de edad. Nació el 27 de Diciembre de 1925 en Higinio Olivo (La Labor), San Luis Potosí, México, y falleció el 28 de Abril de 2026 en Albuquerque, Nuevo México, rodeado de sus seres queridos.

Le sobreviven su amada esposa, Francisca Vega; sus hijos Israel, Nalleli y Valeria Vega; así como sus hijos Hermila, Pedro, Melquiades, Flora, Fidencio, Carmen y María (de Carmen) Vega. También deja 30 nietos, 54 bisnietos y 3 tataranietos. Le precedieron en la muerte su hija Margarita Vega y su madre, Luisa Vega.

Juan nació en un pequeño rancho de San Luis Potosí y llegó a los Estados Unidos hace más de 60 años, inicialmente contratado para trabajar en la construcción en Houston, Texas. Posteriormente estableció su hogar en Albuquerque, Nuevo México, donde construyó una vida definida por el trabajo arduo, la resiliencia y la independencia.

Fue un hombre fuerte y decidido—y terco de una manera que lo hacía inolvidable. Nadie podía decirle qué hacer; era a su manera y no de otra. Juan vivió la vida bajo sus propios términos. Aunque nunca compartió una fórmula para la longevidad, quienes lo conocieron dirían que incluía disfrutar de los placeres sencillos de la vida: una cerveza bien fría o un trago, sus papas favoritas (Hot Cheetos), las gorditas y enchiladas (de Cárdenas) de su esposa, y no podía faltar el McDouble con chile verde, papas fritas y un refresco.

Juan se mantuvo activo durante toda su vida, a menudo caminando por Albuquerque y siempre manteniéndose ocupado. Sus manos rara vez estaban quietas—ya fuera afilando cuchillos de cocina, cortando madera o creando algo especial, como un columpio hecho a mano para su nieto Isaac. Su mente era igual de activa; siempre buscaba algo que hacer. Le encantaba sentarse afuera, escuchar la radio y observar tranquilamente el mundo pasar.

Por encima de todo, la vida de Juan nos recuerda vivir plenamente, apreciar los pequeños momentos y mantener cerca a nuestros seres queridos. Que honremos su memoria amando profundamente, valorándonos unos a otros y abrazando cada día como él lo hacía—bajo nuestros propios términos.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo en la Funeraria Trujillo Family Home, con velorio y rezo del rosario el jueves 14 de mayo de 2026, de 5:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m.

La misa se va hacer en la iglesia Sagrada Familia el viernes 15 de mayo a las 9:00 a.m. (562 Atrisco Dr SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105).

El sepelio se llevará a cabo posteriormente en el cementerio Pajarito.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Francisca Vega; their children Israel, Nalleli, and Valeria Vega; as well as his children Hermila, Pedro, Melquiades, Flora, Fidencio, Carmen, and Maria (de Carmen) Vega. He also leaves behind 30 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Margarita Vega and his mother, Luisa Vega.

Juan was born in a small ranch in San Luis Potosí and came to the United States more than 60 years ago, initially contracted to work in construction in Houston, Texas. He later made his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he built a life defined by hard work, resilience, and independence.

He was a strong and determined man—and stubborn in the way that made him unforgettable. No one could tell him what to do, it's his way and no other. Juan lived life on his own terms. Though he never shared a formula for longevity, those who knew him might say it included enjoying life’s simple pleasures: a cold beer or a shot, his favorite chips (hot Cheetos) his wife’s gorditas, enchiladas (de Cardenas), and can’t forget the McDouble with green chile, fries, and a soda.

Juan remained active throughout his life, often walking around Albuquerque and always keeping busy. His hands were rarely still—whether sharpening kitchen knives, cutting wood, or crafting something special, like a handmade swing for his grandson Isaac. Just as active was his mind; he was always looking for something to do. He loved sitting outside, listening to the radio, and quietly watching the world go by.

Above all, Juan’s life reminds us to live fully, cherish the small moments, and hold our loved ones close. May we honor his memory by loving deeply, appreciating one another, and embracing each day as he did—on our own terms.

Funeral services will be held at Trujillo Family Home for a viewing and rosary on

Thursday May 14th 2026 at 5pm-7pm

Mass will be held at Holy Family Church on Friday May 15th at 9am (562 Atrisco Dr SW Albuquerque, NM 87105)

Burial will follow at Pajarito Cemetery
