Joseph Paul Rael

October 31, 1967 — May 16, 2025

Joseph P. Rael, lovingly known to many as Smalls, Bubba, and Jojo, left this world to be with our Lord on May 16, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on October 31, 1967, to Paul Rael and Luanne Gutierrez, Joe was a man whose warmth and spirit touched all who knew him.

Joe’s heart was as big as his sense of humor, and he was truly dedicated to his family and friends. He cherished his beloved wife, Mary, and was the proud father of four: Joseph Sisneros and his wife Amy, Brandon Rael and his fiancée Katrina, Adrian Aranda and his wife Samantha, and his daughter Amy Lujan and her husband Steven. Beyond being a devoted father, he was also a cherished grandfather, doting on his ten grandchildren—Destiny, Lazerine, Illiana, Alec, Jalyssa, Brooklynn, Kyler, Kalea, Zariah, and Logan—as well as his two great-grandchildren, Josiah Jr. and Myla.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Luanne, and his brother, Randy. He is survived by his father, Paul Rael, and his brother, Michael Rael, along with Michael's wife Linette. Joe's unwavering loyalty extended to his friends and his passions, which included a deep love for the Vikings and Dodgers.

In celebration of Joe's life, the family invites those who wish to honor him with flowers to send them to Legacy Church, located at 4701 Wyoming Blvd NE, by 8:30 AM on June 4, 2025. A public viewing will begin at 9 AM, followed by a service at 10 AM, with a reception to follow.

Joe’s legacy of love, laughter, and family bonds will forever reside in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered as the incredible man he was.
