Johnny J. Brazil

Johnny J. Brazil, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his children: Frances Gallegos, Emilio, John, Joe, and Michelle Brazil, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great- grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Katie Lopez, Theresa Jenkins, Patsy DeVries, and Grace Nelson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Cecilia Brazil.
Johnny was born in Miami, New Mexico, on May 26, 1935. He later moved to Springer, New Mexico, and eventually settled in Albuquerque, where he lived with his wife and children. Johnny worked at the Albuquerque Journal, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country from July 14, 1954, to April 8, 1958, followed by service in the National Guard, where he received his Honorable Discharge on September 25, 1960.
Johnny loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, and hunting with his wife and children. He will be greatly missed and forever loved. Dad, we know you are no longer suffering. Rest in peace as you join Mom in God’s loving arms. We love you, Dad.
Services:
There will be two viewings. The first viewing will be on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Trujillo Family Funeral Home, 110 Alvarado Dr. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, from 5:30–7:30 pm. The second viewing and funeral service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1860 Griegos Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107, beginning with the viewing at 10 am, followed by the rosary and service. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501, with burial services commencing at 1 pm.

Special thanks also to Luis Alday and the staff at Trujillo Family Funeral Home for their support with the funeral arrangements, and to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church for their assistance with the services.
