It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joe Richard Otero, a man of boundless energy and humor. Joe was born on March 12, 1940, to Elsie (Blea) Otero and Lorenzo Otero in Punta de Agua, New Mexico. He transitioned into Heaven on November 10, 2025. Through his 85-year journey, he touched many lives with his wisdom, humor and an unwavering spirit of perseverance and love.

Driven by an endless thirst for happiness, Joe was a lifelong devoted husband, father, and provider. He had a passion for experiencing new things, as well his continuous love of laughter, (and the Dallas Cowboys). This spirit, which characterized his life, translated into lessons he sincerely imparted onto those around him.

Among the many milestones of his well-lived life, he worked at APS for 28 years in the Custodial and Carpet department with pride. He became a proud Supervisor for the Carpet department. An incredible feat that underscored his determination and tenacity. This achievement is one example that highlights his ability to inspire others by overcoming challenges with fortitude.

Joe's legacy of humor, perseverance, and loving kindness will be carried forward by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, and a testament to the power of an unbeatable spirit enthused with love, laughter, and resilience. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered in our hearts.

Preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Elsie Otero, brothers Albert, Ignacio, Arthur, Manuel, and three grandchildren; Amber, Elijah and Matthew.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara Otero; his four children and their spouses Richard and Beverly, Diana and Mike, Phillip and Brenda, Mark and Corrine; grandchildren Anthony, Derek, Alicia, Angela, Monique, Noah, Faith; 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild who were the lights of his life.

We invite all who knew and loved Joe to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating his exceptional life on December 3, 2025 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona St SE, Albuquerque NM 87108. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30am, immediately followed by Mass Services at 10am. Joe's final resting place will be at Mount Calvary, 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque NM 87102, Burial at 11:30am. Followed by reception.
