Joanne Apodaca, or “Joni” as she better known, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left us on March 11, 2024, in Albuquerque. She was born on April 24th, 1944, in Geneva, and her passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Joni was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. She was a devoted mother to her children, Suzy Barbee, Robert Sanchez, and Carlos Sanchez. Her love for her children knew no bounds, and she took immense pride and joy in their accomplishments and the beautiful individuals they had become. Joanne's love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She cherished the moments spent with her children and grandchildren, and her love for them was unwavering. In addition to her children, Joanne leaves behind a legacy of love through her five grandchildren, Britny, Santana, Zach, Jolissa, and Hailey, and her three great-grandchildren, Landon, Braelynn, and Cora. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they brought immeasurable joy and happiness into her life. Joni also had a deep love for dogs. She always had a steadfast furry companion by her side, and derived tremendous joy from taking care of and loving them. Her love for her dogs was a testament to her pure heart and love for all of God’s creation. Joni was known for her exceptional culinary skills and her love for hosting parties. Her home was always filled with the warmth of her cooking and the laughter of her loved ones. She found immense joy in bringing people together and creating beautiful memories with her family and friends. Her love for life and her positive outlook were truly inspiring, and she faced every challenge with unwavering strength and resilience. Joni's love knew no bounds, and she lived her life with a heart full of love and compassion. She never complained and always found the silver lining in every situation. Her unwavering spirit and her ability to see the beauty in life's simple moments were a testament to her strength and character. She was a true warrior who faced life on its own terms and embraced every moment with grace and courage. The memories of Joni will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire all who were touched by her presence. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
