Jennifer T. Lopez, 44, of Socorro, New Mexico, passed away on March 2, 2026. Though her time here was far too short, the love, creativity and spirit she shared with others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Jennifer was born on November 30, 1981, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Peggy and Ron Lopez. She was raised in Socorro, graduating from Socorro High School in 2000. Socorro remained the place where she called home, building memories with family, friends, and her community.

Jennifer is survived by her children Calista Lopez and Fernando Torres, her grandson Castiel Vergara; parents Peggy and Ron Lopez; sister Kathryn Lopez; nephew Christian Lopez; and many aunts, uncle and cousins.

Jennifer was welcomed into heaven and preceded in death by her brother James Lopez, grandparents Frutoso and Katie Lopez, and Terry Peralta; uncles Pete and Jimmy Lopez; cousin Michael Peralta. Their memories remained close to Jennifer’s heart throughout her life.

Jennifer was a beautiful women with a vibrant, expressive spirit. She loved art in many forms and found peace and meaning in creativity. Whether she was painting on canvas, drawing pictures, writing poetry, or filling pages with personal thoughts and reflections. Jennifer had a beautiful way of expressing her heart Her writings often held pieces of her soul and messages of love for her children and family.

Music also played a special role in her life. She loved to sing, play around on the piano and enjoy the simple joy that music brought. Jennifer was an avid reader, especially history and religion, exploring ideas and searching for deeper understanding. She had a playful side, truly a kid at heart. Jennifer enjoyed phone and video games, having dinner with family, laughing and finding happiness in the little things in life. One of her favorite daily routines was caring for her son’s beloved French bulldog, “Tank” and her own dog “Oso”, whom she loved dearly.

But above all else, Jennifer loved all her family. Her children, grandson, sister, nephew, and parents were the center of her world. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with them. Her family was her pride and her greatest blessings. Becoming a grandmother to Castiel brought a true blessing and light into her heart and life.

Jennifer had a strong will and voice. She was passionate, opinionated and a strong commitment to stand up for what she believed. She spoke up not only for herself but often for others, making sure people were heard, supported and valued. She cared deeply for people who needed the most help.

While she could be serious and thoughtful, she had the ability to light up the room she entered. Her laughter, humor and energy made her the life of the party, lifting the spirits of everyone around her.

Faith was an important part of Jennifer’s life. Raised in the Roman Catholic faith, she attended San Miguel Parish and school, however, open to learning from many other religious denominations. She attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and worked at the First Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed helping others and connecting with her community. Jennifer believed and loved God. She practiced daily Jesus Christ’s message of love and caring for others.

Even though Jennifer is gone from this world, her love, voice, beautiful smile, light and spirit will never fade. For us who loved Jennifer, we will carry her in our hearts until the day we meet again.

A Memorial Celebration Service will be held on Saturday March 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Socorro City Convention Center at 1220 US-60 Highway, Socorro, New Mexico.
