James O. Brasher

In memory of James O. Brasher Sr, born in St Louis, Mo on 06/15/1935 and passed away 01/06/2023.

Jim felt his calling to serve his country and joined the US Army in 1954, where he served until 1958. His time in the service eventually brought him to New Mexico where he met his lovely bride, Josephine B Valverde, later to become Josephine B Brasher, and began their family which grew quickly.

Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years and 6 children: Judith A Ramos and spouse Michael Ramos, James O Brasher Jr, Jeri L Peterson and spouse Steve Peterson whom preceded him in death, Joseph R Brasher and spouse Lucille Brasher, John M Brasher and Julia M Brasher-Torres. Jim had 16 grandchildren-2 of whom preceded him in death Brett A Velarde and Joshua A Brasher, and 21 great-grandchildren. Jim is survived also by his brother Gary R Brasher and spouse Paula Brasher along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Jim is a graduate of Highland University in Las Vegas, NM where he earned his degree. Jim loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and watching his team, “The Dallas Cowboys”, Jim had a full life.

His services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church 210 Alvarado Dr NE Albuquerque, NM 87108 on February 17, 2023 at 10:30am. He will be interred at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM at 1:30pm. There will be a reception to celebrate his life at Sheraton Hotel Uptown 2600 Louisiana Blvd NE Albuquerque, NM 87110 at 3-3:30pm.
