Irinio Higinio Nieto

Irinio Higinio Nieto, 70, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 24, 2025. Born on September 17, 1954, Irinio was a proud lifelong resident of Albuquerque, where he built a life grounded in strength, resilience, and deep family roots.

He was the beloved father of four children, two of whom preceded him in death: Christopher Paul Nieto and Vicente Chavez. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Nieto and Valerie Nieto, as well as nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life.

Irinio lived with quiet strength and unwavering conviction. A man of deep integrity, he proudly celebrated 31 years of sobriety, a milestone that stood as a testament to his personal growth, humility, and love for his family. He was known for his love of the outdoors — finding peace and freedom in fishing, hunting, camping, and being close to nature.

Services to honor his life will begin on Wednesday, July 9, with a family viewing at Trujillo’s Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A final viewing will follow on Thursday, July 10, at 8:15 AM, with Mass at 9:00 AM at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Lady of Mount Carmel Mission, 7807 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque. A Celebration of Life and Potluck Gathering will be held afterward from 12:00 to 2:30 PM at the Elks Lodge in Rio Rancho.

Irinio will be remembered for his strength, sense of humor, and deep love for his family and the simple joys of life. His legacy lives on in the stories we share, the lessons he left behind, and the love that will never fade.
