1939 - 2025
Henriquez Ignacio Tenorio passed away peacefully on 19 April 2025, surrounded by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was born and raised in Willard, NM, and he was the sixth of 10 children. He attended college at Western New Mexico University in Las Vegas and St Joseph’s College in Albuquerque, where he was studying to become a teacher. About this time, the draft began, so Henry joined the U.S. Army to become an electronics and telecommunications specialist. Shortly after completing his training, he married the love of his life, Veronica (Betty) Chavez, also from Willard, in 1960. He was stationed in Germany for his entire enlistment and was honorably discharged in 1966. He found employment at the US Army’s White Sands Missile Range and settled his family in Socorro, NM, where he lived for the rest of his life. He was heavily involved in the church, serving as eucharistic minister, member of the Knights of Columbus, lector, fiesta chairman, and choir member. He was a skilled woodworker, making wooden crosses for San Miguel church, San Miguel cemetery, and Our Lady of Sorrows church in Willard. He had a love for many things, such as camping, hunting, gardening, farming, cooking, woodworking, wine making, and was an all-around handyman. He was truly a jack of all trades and always completed his projects with precision and according to his meticulous plans. He will always be remembered by his wise words of wisdom and sound advice, his wonderful ways of sharing his vast knowledge and many skills, his love of family, friends, and lively family gatherings…Honey Babes, Dad, Pops, Papa, we miss you and love you and know you will remain in our hearts and watch over us forever.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Veronica (Betty) Tenorio; five children - Monica (Shayne) Vanlandingham, Brigitta (Jon) Pineda, Daniel (Valerie) Tenorio, Tanya Tenorio, Dominic (Christina) Tenorio; grandchildren - Jared (Jennifer) Vanlandingham, Ashley Vanlandingham, Doryan (Daniel) Candler, Natasha Pineda, Monica Tenorio, Devin Tenorio, Mia Tenorio, Justus Jaramillo, Ezrah Jaramillo, Antonio Tenorio, Lee Tenorio, Amalia Tenorio; great grandchildren - Serena, Shay, Justus, Haley, Ryan, Destiny, Zayne, Draya, Ryatt, Malakai, and Eli. He is also survived by four of his siblings, Mary, Grace, Catherine, and Anthony. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Amalia Tenorio, and five of his siblings, Fita, Richard, Tom, Manuel Jr, and Nena. Services for Henry will be held Friday, 2 May 2025, at San Miguel Church, 403 El Camino Real Socorro, NM 87801. Viewing will be held 8:30 - 9:30 AM, Rosary begins at 9:30 AM, Mass at 10:00 AM, burial at San Miguel Cemetery, immediately followed by a reception at the San Miguel reception hall located directly behind San Miguel Church. For those who cannot travel to Socorro on Friday, there will be a viewing on Thursday, 1 May 2025, 6:30 - 8:30 PM, at the Trujillo Family Funeral Home Chapel, 110 Alvarado Drive SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
