Glen "Allen" Hicks February 15, 1951 – August 31, 2026

Glen Allen Hicks, known to family and friends as Allen, passed away on August 31, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at age 75.

Born on February 15, 1951, in Hazard, Kentucky, to Richard Alvin Hicks and Lola Mae Hicks (Reynolds), Allen was raised in Muncie, Indiana, as one of nine children. He developed a strong sense of family, hard work, and loyalty while caring deeply for those he loved.

Allen answered the call to serve his country at a young age. From 1968 to 1970, he served in the United States Army as a Specialist 4 in Light Weapons Infantry – Airborne. During the Vietnam War, he was with HHC, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, part of the 1st Infantry Division, the “Big Red One.” A decorated combat veteran and paratrooper, Allen received the Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal, and Purple Heart, along with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and United States Army Parachutist Badge.

His family was incredibly proud of his service, though his medals were only a part of who he was.

Allen and Debra shared 50 years of marriage, building a life and raising a family filled with adventures, laughter, and everyday moments. Over the decades, they watched their family grow to include children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Debra was Allen’s partner through it all, and the family they built meant everything to him.

A dedicated businessman, Allen owned an automotive and towing company for over 20 years and worked in construction. His children and grandchildren learned much from him—not just about business and hard work but also about generosity, leadership, and family care. Allen taught by example, showing what it meant to live well.

He enjoyed life, loving hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and especially family camping trips, creating cherished memories. Allen was proud of his children and took joy in watching his family grow, celebrating every new generation.

Allen was incredibly generous, caring for his family, assisting his parents and siblings, and valuing those who worked with him. Providing care was part of his nature.

Among all the things Allen built, his family was his greatest achievement.

Allen is survived by his wife of 50 years, Debra Hicks; his children, Heidi Noble; Nicole Trujillo (Fred); Hilary Ramirez (Billy); and Joshua Hicks (Jessica). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alexis Hicks, Kayla Trujillo, Elijah Sprunk, Adrianna Hicks, Martin Sprunk Jr., Julio Hicks, Rudolfo Ramirez, Nathan Chavez, Riley Trujillo, Joshua Hicks, Alice Hicks, and Richard Hicks; and his great-grandchildren, Gianna Sprunk, Joelynn Salazar, and Alianna Sprunk.

He is also survived by his siblings, Katherine "Kathy" Burlison and Richard "Junior" Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Alvin Hicks and Lola Mae Hicks, and his siblings, Jimmie “Roger” Hicks, William “Kenneth” Hicks, Bonnie “Sue” Sanchez, Carroll “Wayne” Hicks, Paul “Edward” Hicks, and Darrell “Eugene” Hicks.

Allen’s family cherishes countless stories of his life—from his upbringing and Army days to family adventures, lessons learned, laughter shared, and memories made.

To his family, Allen wasn’t simply a decorated soldier, a businessman, or a builder.

He was a husband. He was a Dad. He was a Grand“PA”. He was their hero.

Allen is deeply missed, but his family takes comfort in their faith in Jesus Christ and the promise that death is not the end. After a life spent serving his country, working diligently, caring for his family, and embracing adventure, Allen is finally Home.

Welcome home, soldier. Your service is unforgettable, and your legacy will endure.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM.

Shepherd of the Valley Church 1801 Montaño Rd NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico
