Gilbert Mendoza

August 10, 1969 — May 6, 2024

Gilbert Apollo Mendoza (Huero) age 54 of Albuquerque, NM left this world to enter into his eternal home on May 6, 2024 after a long battle with medical issues. Gilbert was born on August 10, 1969 to Lawrence (Lorenzo) Mendoza Sr. and Becky Geraldine Padilla-Aguirre in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Gilbert met Marylee Cadena in 1985 and went on to have three children. Gilbert Joseph Mendoza Jr, Nicole Monique Mendoza and Manuel David Cadena and spouse Kristen Cadena. Gilbert has five beautiful grandchildren. Anhelica Susana Mendoza, Evelynrose Mendoza, Gregory Joseph Gilbert Mendoza, Raymond Joseph Mendoza, and Sophia MaryLee Cadena. Gilbert was an avid artist and spent many years drawing depictions of his Chicano culture. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family. Although he had many struggles that created challenges in his life and amongst his family, he was loved and cherished by many for his kind, loving and generous heart. As our mother shared prior to her passing, he was her favorite. Gilbert was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Marylee Cadena, our mother Becky Geraldine Padilla-Aguirre, our eldest brother Lawrence Mendoza and our grandfather Leopoldo Armijo. He is survived by his father Lawrence (Lorenzo) Mendoza, 4 siblings: Sandy Angel Dimas and spouse Everett Dimas; Edwina Lemus and partner Eric Martinez, Valentina Mendez and spouse Andres Mendez; and Cesar Padilla and Spouse Sonya Padilla. He is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmother, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services will be held at his gravesite at Los Lentes Cemetery at 10:30am on May 21st, 2024. A celebration of life will held after the gravesite burial at 2540 Firewheel Ave. SW Los Lunas, New Mexico.
