Gilbert Barreto, 67, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on August 10, 2025. Born in the Bay Area, California on February 25, 1958, Gilbert was the eldest of five children. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 32 years, Linda Barreto, his two younger brothers - Jerry Barreto and Ron Barreto, and his father, John Barreto Sr.

Gilbert proudly served his country in the United States Army before building a long and dedicated career as a sheet metal worker. He was a man who valued hard work, family, and simple joys. An avid fan of baseball and football, Gilbert also loved barbecuing for loved ones, working on cars, and relaxing with classic westerns.

He is survived by his sister, Sylvia Barreto his remaining brother, John Barreto Jr his mother, Neva Gutierrez as well as his nine children: Joseph, Jennifer, Marissa, Michelle, Esther, Monica, Gilbert, Daniel, and Serena. His legacy continues through his 18 cherished grandchildren, who will carry his love and lessons forward.

Gilbert will be laid to rest with full honors at Santa Fe Veterans Memorial Cemetery, where he will join his wife in eternal rest. His strength, resilience and devotion to family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
