George Charles
Hopkins
Aug 25, 1931 — Aug 28, 2026
Albuquerque, New Mexico
With deep love, we announce the passing of George Charles Hopkins, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, who passed away on August 28, 2026. George was born on August 25, 1931, in Vauxhall, NJ.
George proudly served as a Marine in the Korean War and was deeply devoted to his family. Ultimately, his life proves that a person's true legacy is not defined by accolades or trophies, but by the strength of the foundation they build for those they love. Just as he once moved a stubborn boulder to complete his family’s home, he spent his life working through every obstacle to ensure his children and grandchildren were secure, valued, and loved. The fact that his family gathered around him in New Mexico was the greatest trophy he could ever receive. He didn’t just build a house; he built a culture of devotion that will continue to guide his family for generations to come.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Shirley (Ward); his children Cathy Honrath (Ed), Michael (Gail), Patrick, and Shawn (Patty). He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Estelle, his young son George Lawrence, and his sister Louise. No services are planned at this time. His family will carry his memory forward through the lessons, stories, and love he gave so generously.
