Franklin Joseph Birner

December 25, 1955 — December 11, 2023

Franklin Joseph Birner passed away on December 11th, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM. Frank was
born on Christmas Day in 1955 to mother Betty Birner and father Frank Birner. He had six
younger sisters, Jo Ann Cody, Audrey Perea, Patsy Lockhart, Lori Wolf, Vicky Birner and Ellen
Lloyd.

Upon graduation from Los Lunas High School, Franklin joined the Airforce. Something he later
would say was a cake walk compared to six sisters. This is a testament to his great sense of
humor and ability to find the positive. After his service he attended school in Flag Staff, Arizona
to train as an automotive technician. That is where he truly realized his passion for cars. He
loved working on cars and was really good at it. He was extremely intelligent and could figure
out problems that most couldn’t, and always had friends asking him how to fix it! He had a 1970
Plymouth Duster that he loved and was always working on making it faster. He enjoyed cruising
and street racing South Eubank on weekends. He would always have the window down and his
arm hanging out the window. He did this so much he wore the paint off on the door. This was
the happiest time of his life.

I, Jo Ann Cody and my husband also loved cars and enjoyed the time we spent with Franklin
cruising and drag racing the cars he worked on. Audrey also said that she would go street racing
with Franklin and almost got caught by the cops. Franklin was also easy going and kind. He
would give her his last dollar if he thought she needed it. They were special times that we will
always remember and smile when we think of them. Patsy says, rest in eternal sleep brother
.
