Eusebio Ike
DeVargas
Jan 18, 1969 — Aug 14, 2025
Eusebio Ike DeVargas passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2025, at the age of 56, at his residence in Servielleta, NM. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Elena and Luis Gallegos, Tony and Louise Devargas his father Antonio Ike Devargas, sisters Carmela Devargas, Doreen Cordova Brothers, Isaac Cordova and Antonio DeVargas. As the first anniversary of his passing approaches, his absence continues to be deeply felt by the family and loved ones he left behind.
Eusebio was a man with a strong personality and a love for the things that brought him excitement and joy. He loved motorcycles, cars, guns, and knives, and had an appreciation for anything with an engine, craftsmanship, or a story behind it. But above all else, Eusebio loved his family.
If you knew Eusebio, you knew that his love language was picking on you. Whether he was wrestling with you, joking around, teasing you, or simply giving you a hard time, that was Dad’s way of showing just how much he loved you. Behind all of the joking was an incredibly kind, loving, and caring man with a huge heart.
That huge heart extended far beyond his family. Eusebio was the kind of person who could not simply pass by someone who needed help. Whether it was a stranger stranded on the side of the road, someone experiencing homelessness who needed a shower, a meal, or a few dollars, or simply someone going through a difficult time, he was willing to lend a helping hand. He didn’t need to know your story or expect anything in return. If he saw someone in need and had a way to help, he did.
To his family, he was our protector—the person we knew we could count on no matter what. It didn’t matter what day it was or what time the phone rang; if we needed him, he was there. He was always just one call away. Knowing Dad was there gave us a sense of safety that is impossible to replace, and losing him meant losing someone who made us feel like we never had to face anything alone.
He was a father, family man, protector, helper, and someone whose presence could never easily be forgotten. The memories he created, the laughter he brought, the people he helped, the lessons he taught us, and the pieces of him that live on through his children and loved ones remain long after his passing.
Nearly a year has gone by, yet grief does not follow a calendar. There are still moments when it feels impossible that he is gone—moments when we wish we could hear his voice, have him pick on us one more time, see him walk through the door, or simply make that phone call knowing he would answer.
Eusebio’s life was so much more than the day he left this world. It was 56 years of memories, laughter, struggles, adventures, generosity, family, and love. His story did not end on August 14, 2025. It continues through his children, his family, the people whose lives he touched, the stories we tell, and every person fortunate enough to have been loved, helped, or protected by him.
No amount of time will ever make us stop missing him. We will carry his memory, his generosity, his humor, his love, and the strength he gave us for the rest of our lives.
Forever our protector. Forever loved. Forever missed. Never forgotten.
