Ernesto “Ernie” Dominguez II, 63, of Socorro, New Mexico, passed away on April 28, 2026, surrounded by his children.

Ernie was born on May 16, 1962, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Ernesto Dominguez and Cecilia Chavez.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernesto Dominguez I; his grandparents, Daniel and Simodosea Chavez; and his brother, Charles Carlo Chavez.

He is survived by his loving mother, Cecilia Chavez; his children, Nicole Montoya, Tabitha Dominguez, Joshua Montoya, and Michaela Montoya and fiancé Jorge Hinojosa; his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Montoya, Talicia Barrett, Lilly Garcia-Montoya, Josiah Garcia-Montoya, Lyric Garcia-Montoya, Noah Hinojosa, and Alaia Hinojosa; his great-grandson, Javier Montoya; and his brother, Vince Dominguez and wife Bernadette; as well as many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

Ernie was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He had a way of lighting up any room he entered and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

A passionate, talented musician, Ernie found his greatest joy behind the drums. Whether jamming at community events, teaching drum lessons, creating art, or simply sharing a conversation, he made a lasting impact on everyone he met. Ernie spent many years working in the music/concert industry and took great pride in it. He was also a part of many bands in his lifetime as a drummer, creating lifelong friendships with his fellow band members.

Ernie’s legacy lives on through his family, his music, and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
